Crested Porcupine

The crested porcupine is a strictly nocturnal animal with very small eyes and external ears and only a slight moonlight avoidance.

The crested porcupine is a strictly nocturnal animal and has very small eyes and external ears.

Moonlight avoidance is slight and only occurs in open areas, unlike in the Indian crested porcupine (Hystrix indica), in which significant moonlight avoidance has been documented.
