Przewalski’s Horse (Equus ferus)

For the month of May 2021, FaunaFocus will feature its first equine, Przewalski’s Horse!

Przewalkski’s horse is the last remaining species of wild horse and inhabits the grasslands and deserts of China and Mongolia. This social species has never been domesticated, but can hybridize with the domestic horse. With less than 200 mature individuals, this species is considered endangered from overhunting.
