Visual Kraft Design’s digital portrait depicts the past, present, and future of Przewalski’s horse with a combined composition containing three separate portraits. This combination created an interesting composition that was enhanced with a unified color scheme made up of mostly warm colors that emphasized the wild horse’s pelt.
Due to the Annamite striped rabbit’s elusive nature, Vetrina Nicole Art used a digital medium to depict the lagomorph as a jackalope. Bathed in moonlight, Vetrina’s composition captured the rabbit’s nocturnal lifestyle with a monochromatic color palette of various shades of blue.
Visual Kraft Design used digital media to represent Australia’s rebrand of the Easter Bunny to the Easter Bilby. This colorful illustration presents a curious bilby guarding a nest of brightly colored and heavily patterned eggs. The background is filled with large bilby shapes that symbolize traditional chocolate bilbies though they blend cohesively with the background due to their foliage coloration.
Yodeldog used a digital medium to portray both the cuteness of the European mink and the ferocity of its aquatic hunting within a storybook-like illustration. With a cohesive color palette and dynamic composition, this piece truly embodied many facets of this aquatic mustelid's life.

Sarah used digital media to depict an emotional scene of a mother koala and her baby. This beautifully haunting piece used muted colors to depict the suffocating smoke of the Australian bushfires and a pop of bright orange tones to enhance the vibrant light of the blaze. With a baby koala peering into the viewer’s eyes, the spectator feels challenged to act in order to help the koalas in their plight.
FaunaFocus raised $1,827.68 for the World Wildlife Fund-Australia (WWF)'s Keep Koala's Climbing Wild-Livestream event benefitting the vulnerable koala.
ShadowsFuri used traditional materials to skillfully depict the southern grasshopper mouse’s fine fur. With a desert scene and a close-up composition, this artwork presented a warm scene of an adorable character.
Sarah challenged herself to create a thriving scene for her coati character, Cora. By using what she’s learned from recent color studies, Sarah was able to utilize a limited color palette and use hues in a more adventurous manner. This whimsical use of media created a gentle, storybook-like artwork.
Nenelink painted an 8″x10″ monochromatic acrylic painting of the small Gulbaru leaf-tailed gecko in shades of blue and violet. Emphasizing the blotchy, patterned visual texture of the reptile against a busy, impressionistic background, Nene utilized the gecko’s strengths to create a beautiful piece of work.
Faisal Kubba depicted the Silverstone’s poison frog as a performer of Kabuki theatre with a tadpole riding on its back. With clean lines and textured brushstrokes, Faisal was able to depict the frog’s granular skin and distinct markings.
Danji Isthmus created a stunning, yet perplexing digital illustration of the gerenuk. With an exaggerated long neck and intense eyelashes, this gerenuk appears to stare into the viewer's soul, capturing their curiosity.
FaunaFocus raised $1,041.82 for the American Eagle Foundation's National American Bald Eagle Day campaign benefitting the bald eagle and other birds of prey.
Sarah redrew one of her first artworks from about four years ago and her artistic improvement is inspiring. This illustration depicted a noble bald eagle amidst a rainbow gradient background with an aura of colors reflecting within its eyes. Keeping with the theme of lustrous colors, this improved piece captures the same theme with a refined attention to detail.
Zoe digitally painted a pair of sea otters floating amongst the colorful stars. With a flurry of star dust swarming around the otters echoing the ripples of water, this piece uses complimentary colors to highlight the love between this raft.
Sarah depicted the crocodilian Egyptian god, Sobek, as a slender-snouted crocodile. With a pleasing color scheme and attention to detail, Sarah’s realistic rendering of the crocodile’s scales echoed the tones of the human-like body and created an impressive looking character.
OrangeDrawer depicted the nocturnal crested porcupine scrounging about some nighttime foliage, in search of food and bones. Bathed in hues of blue and violet, this porcupine was well-rendered with distinctive quills and soft-looking fur. Viewers can enjoy feeling as if they've come upon this porcupine in the middle of the night.
OrangeDrawer created a mostly monochromatic digital illustration with a great sense of depth and environment. The colors, lighting, and detail work of this piece created a moody scene that captured the depths of the tiger shark's habitat.
Vetrina Nicole Art portrayed an ominous silver fox reaper character engrossed in eerie red lighting. With a minimalistic, stark background contrasting with the highly detailed and rendered fur, this piece gives the viewer chills and brings about a sense of wonderous curiosity.

Amy Gorns portrayed a couple of curl-crested araçaris within a soft, pastel-colored bunch of leaves. Surrounded by glowing particle effects, these detailed birds gave a calming vibe and were skillfully drawn with attention to detail.
Zoe created a fantastical depiction of a duo of fiery barn swallows soaring through a starry sky. With a rainbow of colors, this piece balances warm and cool tones, echoing the duality of the birds in the foreground. Highly detailed and well-rendered, this composition excellently featured the barn swallow.
Sarah created an Egyptian-inspired composition featuring Mafdet, the Egyptian goddess of judgement, justice, and execution. This digital illustration used painted details to build an excellent composition that made it feel as if Mafdet had climbed out of a piece of pottery and into the earthly plain.
H. McGill digitally painted a warm-colored and dramatic piece. Combining elements of 1200 century artwork with photorealism and an ornately bordered composition, H. McGill presented a unique representation of this hyaenid.
Shadowind digitally painted a literal representation of the butterfly viper with a winged, colorful snake floating amongst a delicate array of flowers. With both butterfly wings and flowers referenced from those found in Africa, a great deal of research and detail went into creating this saturated composition.
Draws with Kitties painted a traditional, abstracted piece of the weedy seadragon using a variety of pastel tones. Using watercolor and mixed media, Draws with Kitties took inspiration from DeepDream to create an elusive and ambiguous seadragon immersed within an array of colorful shapes and colors.
Shane S. (Yodeldog) illustrated an glowy, spirit-like African wild dog set upon a starry night sky and surrounded by an array of colors. With glowy effects and intense lighting, this piece creates an ethereal experience.
Shadowind created a well-composed image of a Livingstone’s flying fox feasting on figs. Hanging upside-down in the sunset, this gentle herbivore can be seen sniffing the fruit gently placed in his claws, surrounded by a beautiful collection of pink flowers.
Shadowind digitally painted an analogous composition filled with oranges, yellows, and golds. This piece displays a mule deer peryton leaping from a field of sunflowers amongst a flock of birds. With skilled anatomy and careful attention to detail, this piece captures the hear of the viewer with its warm and welcoming presence.
Shadowind painted a vibrant digital composition that featured the Javan rhinoceros walking through some shallow waters deep in the rainforest. This composition allows the viewer to feel as if they have walked right into Ujung Kulon National Park and are witnessing the gentle rhinoceros wading through the waters right before them. With the sunlight piercing the thick foliage and the waters rippling softly, a beautiful scene was depicted.
Deertush submitted a first attempt at a full illustration. Although it was a first attempt, it was skillfully put together showing a mastery of anatomy, composition, and color theory. The pine marten was digitally painted with a playful pose, happy expression, and vivid environment.
